Cuba: 61 Year Blockade, Sanctions on Medical Brigade, Deportations

Recently Block Report’s Minister of Information JR sat down with Gabriella Castillo, the 2nd Secretary in the Political Office in the Cuban Embassy, within the United States. We talked about the decades long US government implemented blockade on Cuba, and how that differs from an embargo.  We also discussed how the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, under the Trump administration, has been targeting immigrants that are from Cuba, alongside Nicaragua, Haiti, and Venezuela for deportation, even one that are participants in Biden-era programs. Lastly, we discussed the history behind the Cuban Medical Brigades, and their work in the global south with developing Black and Brown nations, as well as the recent US sanctions aimed at crippling the brigades and the much needed health care that they provide to the global south.
